Welcome, Skywatchers. Here's yet another photo of my burros with the New Mexico sky as a backdrop. What's special about this photo is that it is featured in the 2009 George and Alan Wall Calendar, available here, and all proceeds go to benefit the largest donkey rescue in the United States.
To see what's going on in the skies around the world, check out the Skywatch home page.
I love seeing the burro's. Do they actually serve a purpose on your farm? Are they ever working burro's or just pets?
ReplyDeleteJoanna, I adopted the burros originally to serve as companion animals for the horse who got left behind. Additionally, they do a very good job of keeping the coyotes away. But primarily, they keep me endlessly entertained.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even guess burros... Awesome capture! Pin-up boys. How cute!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent shots!
ReplyDeleteTwo extraordinary images, wow !!
ReplyDeletevery nice this donkeys are playing also the light on the background , its awsome!

JoAnn greetings
I love your Skywatch guest host picture as well as the one in this post. George and Alan are quite the characters!
ReplyDeleteThis is another fabulous shot. I loved your one on the skywatch page today and this is like a continuation. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteNice photo and post. I liked the rainbow on the skywatch site.
ReplyDeleteWell done
That were some great captures! I can see they will do well in a calendar! Very good work!
ReplyDeleteWhat stars! They're absolutely gorgeous. The sky is lovely too.
ReplyDeletePardon my ignorance but is a burro the same as a donkey?
Winifred, the term "burro" is generally used for the wild variation of these animals that still roam the ranges of the western United States. "Donkey" generally refers to the domesticated variety. But they're both technically asses. I adopted George and Alan from the Bureau of Land Management's Wild Horse and Burro program.
ReplyDeleteThe burros look like they are characters. I bet they give you lots of laughs!
ReplyDeleteThey are SO CUTE! And I love Dew's comment about pin-up boys. Is that the origin of the party game, pin the tail...? No wait, that was donkeys.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing the main page this week. It is a very beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteLove your header.
Great shots and chance.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
This is really a nice photo & deserves to be published in a calendar - very cool!!!
ReplyDeletethis is truly beautiful! Happy weekend! Hope you get time to visit my corner too...
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are absolutely beautiful! And, I love your new header - very Christmasy!! Do you mind telling me what kind of camera you have? I've recently gotten a new one and still don't know if I'm sticking with it or going with something else. Love your cutie pie donkeys too.
ReplyDeleteWe have many donkeys here, they work hard in the fields and people look after them well. Young people, though, have 4 wheel drive pick up trucks and see the donkeys as old fashioned, pity really.
ReplyDeleteLovely, in fact stunning photographs.

Great photo. I can see why it would make the calendar. I got my fingers tangled up when posting a comment to your guest photo; I know you're 7MSN, and not the other way around.:) Both your photos are great.
