Remember a few weeks ago when I said yes, the skies are always THAT blue in New Mexico? Ok, so I lied. This week, the sky was a lovely shade of white. I took a pile of pictures out in the storm, (click here if you want to see those), but this one is my favorite. The boys all caught sight of the abombinable snowman with the camera at the same time.
But in true New Mexico fashion, the snow gave way to the sun in a matter of hours.
And the crystal blue skies provided the perfect backdrop for the afternoon thaw.
For views of the December sky around the world, check out the sites on the Skywatch home page.
Linda: This is a super SWF post. Please be careful when you link in. You have the link from last week as your link. I will fix it.

Love these shots; all (or some of) the gang hanging out in the snow. Nice big skies, too. Gave me a big smile.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. These are gorgeous pictures. I love all the donkeys on the posts below too. You have a wonderful life.
ReplyDeleteShalom from warmish Jerusalem.
These are just fabulous! You sure do have incredible skies in New Mexico.
ReplyDeleteWow! You DID get a lot of snow! But it made for some fantastic photos! Your B & W is wonderful as well as the perspective with the icicles. I like winter if it's winter. I don't like "sort of" winter. If it's "sort of," I'd much rather have summer.
ReplyDeleteLove the pics with the icsicles, well done.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

Incredible photos! Happy Skywatch :)
ReplyDeleteWinter scene with beautiful blue sky, what more can one want. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteHoly moley! You have icicles! Well, I do too...but I'm in Canada! Nice photos, all of them.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love the ones of the horses :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the picture of the boys. It's just perfect. The rest of your winter pictures are great too, I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the snow in New Mexico, but I guess you're high up so anything's possible. That paint horse of yours looks pretty clean, guess he took a snow bath.
ReplyDeleteIncredible pictures, as always.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Linda. I love the colors in your Paint.

Fabulous pics, Linda!
ReplyDeleteI'll be in ABQ Tuesday pm.
Yes!
I'm just wandering around the 'net tonight.... and glad I wandered to your blog. Gorgeous photos!!!
ReplyDeleteSnow is always prettier in photographs than in 'person'. Ha! These are beautiful!
ReplyDeletewonderful photos! love the crew checking you out!
ReplyDeleteYou do seem to get the most amazing photos Linda!! Do you use a point and shoot or a DSLR?? Inquiring minds want to know :)
ReplyDeleteI just love your shoebox quote of the day too!!! That's a classic.
That must be up in the high country of New Mexico. A beautiful state, from what I've seen.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know my link was wrong; I put up a correction. Being dyslexic I try to be real careful and check everything, but stuff still gets by ne! Make that "me"!
ReplyDeleteOh, those blue skies give me goose bumps! That's just got to be my favorite shade of blue. My favorite shot is the melting icicles against the perfectly blue sky, but I love seeing the "boys" too.
ReplyDeleteMagical shots....sky, "boys", and icicles!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photographs. It was a pleasure to come by to see these... the icicles look just awesome!!
Thank you so much for dropping by mine...
Please stay warm and have a wonderful weekend!

Gorgeous photos. You have so much natural beauty around you to capture. The last one w/ the icicles is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteLOVE these photos!!
ReplyDeleteI love it when the roof starts to slide and the icicles reach closer and closer to the ground. Happy Winter Holidays.....
ReplyDeleteThose are so great Linda! I always love stopping by to see what you're writing or what photos you are featuring! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! I really enjoyed these skywatch pictures! The sky is so Nigerien, lol! The nature could be too, with the exception of snow :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Niger!

I just had to laugh and laugh over the boys looking at you ... too funny and a really neat picture.
ReplyDeleteI love that they look completely comfortable out in the snow, and hank's dry fluffy coat afterward. awesome. I really like most of your photos, but those two; of the gang and Hank afterward are my favorites so far.
ReplyDeleteI swear you make it look so easy to get such awesome pictures. I'm jealous....
ReplyDeleteColleen
I do so live the animals in the snow and those glowing icicles. Hope you and your animals all keep warm in the winter.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning pictures. The ice is great but my favourite is th first one of your boys. Talk about getting the right moment!
ReplyDeletegreat pictures- I love the snow when it melts quickly!
ReplyDeleteOkay, that shot of the boys in the snowstorm has completely shattered my impression of what Arizona weather is like. I thought it was hot all the time. I'm at a loss for words!
ReplyDeleteWe're on snow watch over here in my corner of the world....hopefully it won't be anything too serious. People tend to panic when the white stuff falls around here.
City people. What can I say?
Oh wow that first pic would make a beautiful Christmas card. We are susposed to get our first snow this weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautifu series of shots. I really like the first one.
ReplyDeletejust gorgeous... the skies and the boys. i love your photos. makes me want to live there. i'm in overcrowded Northern NJ.
ReplyDeleteThis was just sublime. Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI really love the one of the horse looking out. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful snow and melt you had there! I loved all the pics on the page!
ReplyDeleteLinda--I just had to 42nd the emotion--your shots are spectacular! I love the first one of your horses and burros in the snowstorm. Are you in Northern New Mexico, or does it snow everywhere?
ReplyDeleteFor all of you who seem surprised that there is snow in New Mexico...
ReplyDeleteThe mountainous areas up north (Taos, Chama, even Santa Fe) get quite a bit of snow. I'm further south, smack dab in the middle of the state, but at 6,600'. So when there's moisture coming through and it's cold enough, I'll get snow.
I love all those faces looking in the same direction. It would be nice if we could do the same!
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I love the snow photo and the very last one with the blue blue sky.
ReplyDeleteWow, the pictures with the ice are fantstic ! The pics with horsres and donkey are very sweet.
ReplyDeleteWish you a nice day.
All the best
Cheyenne
Fabulous pictures, the first one is particularly cool.
ReplyDeletevery nice photos! I was just looking at the icicles hanging from my house and thinking about how to get a good shot and you GOT IT!! You even caught the drips! I just love all your pictures.
