A tradition began here at the 7MSN last December, when I decided to be less Scrooge-like and put up a Christmas tree for the first time in oh so many years. The tradition continued today, as I headed out in search of the perfect tree.
Last year's was a bit short and stubby, sorta like me, and I wanted something with more grandeur this time. I settled upon this one.
Now I realize this isn't a lovely Blue Spruce or a Ponderosa Pine, but I've got to work with what I have, and what I have are juniper trees. Living in the middle of nowhere is all about ingenuity. And playing it safe. Which is why I don't own a chain saw and all logging activities are performed with my trusty battery-powered reciprocating saw.
The tree was felled and loaded onto the Ranger, whereupon George came over to give it a sniff...
...and then a taste.
George, stop eating our Christmas tree!
George pouts when I yell at him.
I got the tree back to the house, pounded in a t-post for support, and planted it in the garden, just outside my bedroom window.
You didn't think I'd put that straggly looking thing in the house, did you?
Three indoor cats + Smooch + Christmas tree = train wreck.
Then I proceeded to decorate.
Come back later in the week for the official tree lighting ceremony.
It's got lots of charm. I hope it doesn't ambush the mailman.
ReplyDeleteHA ... that tree looks really cool all decorated up, and WOW, an official tree lighting ceremony ... I can hardly wait!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the blog!!! I have been reading the posts for a while now and I LOVE Hank, Lyle George, Alan, Smooch, Wyonna, and of course the cats! We a have never had any horses on our property and all 4 will soon be on the property w/ us:)! But I was wondering could you leave a comment on my blog w/ some tips? I would appreciate it a LOT(seeing that I am only 12 and am a wee bit nervous:D!). Well gtg:)!

Great ingenuity. I love the decorations! Be back for the lighting ceremony.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Linda. It looks really great. All you need to make it perfect is to build a tumbleweed snowman.

ReplyDeleteLiving alone, I haven't put up a Christmas tree or many decorations at all for that matter, in a number of years. I figure with just me here, what's the point?
Is that being Scroogey?
That's not only a Christmas tree, that's An Installation!
