A sneak peek
Long-time readers might remember this picture. It's one of my favorites from the Burro Ballet series. And judging from the comments you left, it might be one of your favorites, too.
I'm here to announce that this picture will be on the cover of the first annual George and Alan calendar, soon to be available at Café Press. I'm going to donate any and all proceeds from the calendar to Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, the largest donkey rescue in the United States with facilities located across the country. (Farmgirl over at On the Way to Critter Farm is a satellite adoption center for them in Oregon.)
Café Press charges $14.99 to print the calendar, and I will mark it up a few dollars. If anybody buys one, that's a few dollars more I can send to Peaceful Valley so that they can continue saving these beautiful creatures.
I finished publishing the calendar yesterday and am waiting to receive the first one to make sure it's picture perfect before posting the link to the storefront. Each month will feature George and/or Alan doing what burros do...playing with cones, dancing, standing around looking cute – you get the idea.
Call me mercenary, but I wanted to let you all know about this calendar before you finished your Christmas shopping, just in case it might be the perfect gift for that hard-to-shop-for donkey-lover on your list. It's a gift that will give twice - once to the recipient and again to the unwanted, abused and neglected donkeys now living at Peaceful Valley.

Terrific! I hope Cafe Press takes orders from Canada!?
ReplyDeleteThats great! What a great thing to do. Is it okay that I want to buy myself one of those for my own christmas present??!!
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible - what a wonderful and generous idea!!
ReplyDeleteI *love* the cover photo.
(And thank you for supporting "the cause" - people like you are helping to spread the word about how wonderful, beautiful, fun, intelligent, gentle and amazing these animals are!)
Hugs from Oregon. - danni
Perfect....consider one or two already sold! Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many cute photo's of those two, I don't know how you only picked enough for a calandar!!
ReplyDeleteLinda, that's an awesome idea and one that's sure to do well. I hope you include the first photo from yesterday. That one is way too adorable, especially with George's? Alan's? (I can't keep them straight) pinned back.
ReplyDeleteI've missed you & your herd. Computer access has been difficult to get at best and then the computers have been acting up, kicking everyone out of the system with annoying regularity. I'm glad to see that you & your herd have been keeping out of mischief, for the most part.

CANNOT WAIT!
ReplyDeleteVery cool idea! Go for it!
ReplyDeleteWell done. A great idea. I'm sure the pictures will all be great.

Can't wait to see it finished. I'm sure there is someone on my list who could use a cute burro of the month calendar for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! I'm going to "order up"!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited!! Can't wait to order, bless you for donating the proceeds for such a worthwhile cause!
ReplyDeleteLinda, this is the best idea ever! I am passing on the information via my blog on 11/20, and I hope that others will do so as well. I'm sure you will let us all know the second that the calendar can be ordered.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for a 7MSN book soon. Any chance?
I know I need one for my sister who will love it -- I wish you had a way to autograph them -- that would make them even more special. . . . guess I could bring it to Mountainair so you could scribble on it!
ReplyDeleteThis is THE BEST idea yet!!! Consider me in too ....
ReplyDeleteOH sweet! I just love those two...now they can come play at the office with me too!

What a wonderful idea for such a great cause.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's just wonderful! I'm so glad you are selling the calendar--and the proceeds will go to help other donkeys and burros! Maybe a few more people will see this, because you have been tagged! I listed six not well known things about myself on my blog, and you are one of the bloggers I chose to tag, so that you can do the same, and pass it on! That way people meet you who have never seen your blog, and those who have maybe learn a little more about you. If you wish to participate, come by my blog!

Linda this is so great. What a generous woman you are and of course I can't wait to get one of these. Just an added benefit knowing that the purchase will be helping out as well. Thank you!
