A few months ago, I was listening to one of my favorite weekly podcasts, This American Life, from Chicago Public Radio. It featured a fascinating, thoroughly understandable explanation of the subprime mortgage crisis - what it is and how it happened. I was listening to it while walking Smooch down the road, and light bulbs kept going off above my head. Now I get it! I was lighting up the whole neighborhood.Last week, This American Life followed up with a fascinating, thoroughly understandable explanation of the current financial crisis and bailout. This economic fiasco is an historic event and, by God, I wanted to understand it. And now I do. Well, sort of. Don't make me take a test or anything.

ReplyDeleteBut, gotta tell you, I downloaded "The Bailout" before I took off on my 4 miler tonight. The time flew, my pace was great; and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this presentation. Even learned a few things, too. So, who was the smart guy/gal who added the option for the Treasury Secretary into the bailout bill? I want to vote for him/her!
So next time we talk we can discuss the madness of credit default swapping? Or not.
