Ranch Tour: New light fixtures!

Having a house built is a total brain drain. There are decisions to be made every day for months on end. On the day I was deciding which light fixtures to buy, I must have been really tired, because I bought the most boring, matchy-matchy fixtures for the dining room and kitchen.

The boring fixtures really started to bug me when I brought home the new ranch table for the dining room. The Home Depot-special had to go. I found the new fixture of my dreams online, and the snowball started to roll downhill. I might as well replace that boring pendant over the kitchen sink. And as long as I'm at it, that overhead light? Outta here.

This afternoon, I went into electrician mode and did not blow anything up. I present to you the befores and afters:

But now the ugly chrome faucet in the kitchen sink sticks out like a sore thumb. Here goes the snowball, rolling downhill to faucets.com...

  2. Oh my goodness!!! I miss a day or two around here, and you go and do like four posts...teeheehee!!!

You know that you should have sprung the hay on Lisa, don't you? "Oh Hi, Lisa. Nice to meeet you, now get to work!" (just joking of course!)

I am glad that you learned to lead/guide the "General," and have had the opportunity to learn and grow with him :)

As for changing light fixtures...do you want to come help me with mine????

  3. Melanie, I brought home that first load of hay the morning of Lisa's visit, and the thought did cross my mind. But I figured I'd never hear the end of it in the blogosphere if I made her help me stack it.

  4. hahaaha! Well, ya know...I did offer to watch you buck hay...and bring you cool drinks, and wipe your brow.
And I would have stayed out of your burly strong way, too.....snuggling on Smooch. :)

Hey Rancher Woman and Melanie, I don't even buck hay over here. But I do have Ranchman John, and two strong boys to do it. :)

And by the way, I'm really loving those light fixtures, too. I saw the before and after in person....as well as several other exciting future projects you're working on.
You are just so talented on the homefront, my friend :)

  5. Wow - what a difference those fixtures make...especially since the old ones -to me- weren't all that horrible...I mean, I never would have said "ewwww...those are horrid", but now that you have the new ones...there's a definite "WOW" factor. The rest of your house looks incredibly beautiful, too.

I am especially impressed that you wired these babies on your own, too! :-)

  9. Wow, what a difference. The new lights are awesome.

We do have a lot in common. I'm in the renovation mode and replacing the builder grade lighting in my home is on my list. The dining room light is next followed closely by the bathroom lights.

    Love your choices!!

  10. Oh, and I just took a second look. Did you complete your beautiful corbel and framing of the dining room project, too??

    It looks so good!
And next is the dining room paint project, right?

It never ends does it? hehe
