Having a house built is a total brain drain. There are decisions to be made every day for months on end. On the day I was deciding which light fixtures to buy, I must have been really tired, because I bought the most boring, matchy-matchy fixtures for the dining room and kitchen.
The boring fixtures really started to bug me when I brought home the new ranch table for the dining room. The Home Depot-special had to go. I found the new fixture of my dreams online, and the snowball started to roll downhill. I might as well replace that boring pendant over the kitchen sink. And as long as I'm at it, that overhead light? Outta here.
This afternoon, I went into electrician mode and did not blow anything up. I present to you the befores and afters:
But now the ugly chrome faucet in the kitchen sink sticks out like a sore thumb. Here goes the snowball, rolling downhill to faucets.com...
WOW! I'm impressed! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! I miss a day or two around here, and you go and do like four posts...teeheehee!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know that you should have sprung the hay on Lisa, don't you? "Oh Hi, Lisa. Nice to meeet you, now get to work!" (just joking of course!)
I am glad that you learned to lead/guide the "General," and have had the opportunity to learn and grow with him :)
As for changing light fixtures...do you want to come help me with mine????
WAAAY Cool!
ReplyDeleteHarmony,
Janet
Melanie, I brought home that first load of hay the morning of Lisa's visit, and the thought did cross my mind. But I figured I'd never hear the end of it in the blogosphere if I made her help me stack it.
ReplyDeletehahaaha! Well, ya know...I did offer to watch you buck hay...and bring you cool drinks, and wipe your brow.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would have stayed out of your burly strong way, too.....snuggling on Smooch. :)
Hey Rancher Woman and Melanie, I don't even buck hay over here. But I do have Ranchman John, and two strong boys to do it. :)
And by the way, I'm really loving those light fixtures, too. I saw the before and after in person....as well as several other exciting future projects you're working on.
You are just so talented on the homefront, my friend :)
~Lisa
Wow - what a difference those fixtures make...especially since the old ones -to me- weren't all that horrible...I mean, I never would have said "ewwww...those are horrid", but now that you have the new ones...there's a definite "WOW" factor. The rest of your house looks incredibly beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteI am especially impressed that you wired these babies on your own, too! :-)
love the new lights...especially the one in the dining room!!!
ReplyDeleteand..kudos to you for tackling a very scary job...ELECTRICAL WORK! man..you ARE brave!! Snakes ..and now electricity???? WOW!
Go GIRL POWER :)
WOW, what a world of difference light fixtures can make ... totally awesome!
ReplyDeletegreat lighting.
ReplyDeleteAlso I love your table runner.
Wow, what a difference. The new lights are awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe do have a lot in common. I'm in the renovation mode and replacing the builder grade lighting in my home is on my list. The dining room light is next followed closely by the bathroom lights.
Love your choices!!
Oh, and I just took a second look. Did you complete your beautiful corbel and framing of the dining room project, too??
ReplyDeleteIt looks so good!
And next is the dining room paint project, right?
It never ends does it? hehe
~Lisa
Ohhhh...see??? You need to invite Lisa's WHOLE family over next time. Just imagine what you could get done around there...lol!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Not only do those fixtures look great, but I can't believe you did it yourself! And hay? I was going to offer to come hang out when you said you needed a ranch hand, but I'm not sure all this city living hasn't softened me too much!
ReplyDeleteWow! Is there nothing you can't do?! The new fixtures look great!
ReplyDeleteAnn
That looks amazing! What a difference!
ReplyDeleteIs there anything you CAN'T do?
I love the new fixtures. The house looks beautiful...oh and I am still loving that butt bench at your table. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a little while to figure out the first before and after...I thought I was looking at another room!! Well done!
