Snakes get thirsty, too
And it’s that time of year to remember to be on guard. This snake was waiting for me next to Wynonna and Willie’s water dish yesterday. Funny thing is, I just nonchalantly said “oh” when I saw him out of the corner of my eye. Unlike those similar moments long ago – ok, last spring – when I would have SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER, hustled every animal in sight far far away, run to the garage to get a very sharp shovel, only to find said serpent gone by the time I got back.
I asked this guy to stick around for a few days. House guests are coming this afternoon and I think he’d be fun to include on the ranch tour.

So, like, when did we become "houseguests?" I thought we were family. Thank goodness we are - 'cause now you have to put up with our sniffling, sneezing, colds. We're excited to leave germy, smoke-filled, semi-tacky Las Vegas this afternoon for MSN glories.
ReplyDeleteLike Slytherin here. (I thought Harry Potter disposed of him?) He/she looks more scared of you!
Okay, I'm screaming. I hate snakes, even the good ones. Once, in California, Silk and I encountered a baby rattler on the trail. She saw it before I did and stopped dead in her tracks. Then, backed up very slowly. I've got too many rattlesnake stories. It's one thing I don't miss living here on the East Coast.
ReplyDeleteI've seen snakes all over bloggerville lately! I told someone the other day I am SO thankful we don't have to worry about those around here. Justsome harmless garter snakes, nothing like that big boy! Oh, your houseguests will just love all the sights on your ranch! Can't wait to hear how it goes.
